It’s Fine Sessions: FLINTA* Songwriting at Hansa Studios
It’ Fine Sessions—a multi-day songwriting camp for FLINTA* artists at Hansa Studios.
With the It’s Fine Sessions, Thelma Malar and Meisel Music organized a multi-day songwriting camp for FLINTA* artists at Hansa Studios Berlin. The program was designed for musicians to work on new songs in small groups, exchange ideas, and network. The response was overwhelming: more than 150 applications were received for the available spots.
The idea behind the camp was to create a workspace that is deliberately open, supportive, and free of competitive thinking. Thelma Malar emphasized that studio environments are not always safe spaces for FLINTA* individuals and that the camp was designed to address this very issue. A manifesto she drafted and collaborative activities such as a warm-up session with Lena Plogsties underscored this commitment.
The project was organized in collaboration with Meisel Music, which provided the infrastructure through Hansa Studios, while Thelma Malar brought in the participating artists. Additionally, GEMA provided financial support for the project and offered a slot. For Christopher Gronau of Meisel Music, the primary focus was on making FLINTA* individuals more visible in the music industry and giving them space for artistic development.
At the end of the camp, the participants presented the ideas and songs they had created. The spectrum ranged from hyperpop to garage sounds with classical influences, showcasing the stylistic diversity of the participating artists. The camp thus served not only as a creative working format but also as a statement calling for greater visibility, support, and diversity in the music industry.
